Dear Friend of the Campaign for Peace and Democracy,
As the debate about negotiations with Iran unfolds, you may find the three items below helpful in making an independent case in support of the agreement.
First, we present a piece by Steve Shalom just published on the New Politics website, "What's the Big Deal?". This is followed by the statement that the Campaign for Peace and Democracy issued more than a year and a half ago in opposition to the Nuclear Weapon Free Iran Act of 2013 co-sponsored Robert Menendez, Charles Schumer, and Mark Kirkan, and supported by AIPAC and the Israeli and Saudi Arabian governments; the arguments against these Iran hawks remain pertinent to today's debate. Finally, we offer the key findings and introduction to the important study released in June by the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran, "High Hopes,Tempered Expectations: Views from Iran on the Nuclear Negotiations," which shows that respondents from a cross-section of Iranian civil society support the Iran deal.
We hope you find these pieces useful and will circulate them widely to anti-war and human rights activists.
The CPD offices will be closed through Labor Day, but when we return we will present analysis and debate on the crisis in Greece, and much more.
In peace and solidarity,
Joanne & Tom
